Pick your passion and let your imagination soar! These
one-week camps are great on their own or as a way
to customize your four or eight-week camp experience.
Campers also will participate in swimming and
recreation activities to complete their overall camp
experience. Most Imagitivity camps are held at our
Jimmy Prentis Morris Building in Oak Park. If you are
on the West Bloomfield bus route, don’t worry! A shuttle
will take you to Oak Park and back each day of camp.

NEW! Advanced Center Ceramics
Grades 3-5 and 6-8 (West Bloomfield)
Are you a skilled ceramics artist? If you took our basic ceramics camp last
summer, or if you will take it the first session of camp this year, you can learn
even more about this beautiful art in our advanced class. You’ll be in our
ceramics studio, where you can create breathtaking take-home pieces that
can last forever! Limited spaces available.

Abracadabra
Grades 1-3 and 4-6
Hey - how’d they do that? Learn all the secrets behind your favorite magic
tricks, then give them a try. You’ll amaze your friends and family after learning
tricks of the trade from a professional magician. Camp ends with a live magic
show for family and friends.

Aqua Art
Grades 1-3
Come take a dive into the deep as you explore under-the-sea crafts including
treasure chests, puppets, picture frames, sand art, mermaids and more.
Learn about the magical world of sea animals and favorite underwater friends.

Babysitters’ Camp
Grades 5-9
Arrggghh! The baby’s crying and you don’t know what to do! One week in
our Safe Sitter survival camp will teach you everything you need to know
about babysitting. Come learn practical skills such as first aid, plus great
children’s games, appropriate forms of discipline and basic childcare. By
the end of camp, you will be the most qualified sitter in your neighborhood,
equipped with your own Safe Sitter certificate to build a resume for the business.

Build-It
Grades 2-4 and 5-8
It’s Tool Time! Come join the Center’s Build-It camp for an exciting week of
woodworking, model cars, rockets and more! Our expert staff will show
campers how to use different tools in a safe environment. Campers will
show their creativity as they make something new each day.

Center Ceramics
Grades 1-3 and 4-6 (West Bloomfield)
This is the real deal. Come to the Center’s ceramics studio where you will make
handprints, garden stones and more to take home. You will learn the basic
techniques of hand building ceramics. This is art! Limited spaces available.

Cooking Around the World
Grades 1-3 and 4-6 (West Bloomfield)
Let’s talk tacos, savor spaghetti, consider candy and mention marshmallows.
Come learn about food, make food and, best of all, taste food - all in a week’s
time! In this camp, you will experience the joy of foods from all over the world.
Appetites a must!

Chess
Grades 3-6
It’s your move! Learn the fundamentals of
this popular game, then spend time playing
to master your technique. Chess develops
critical thinking skills and improves reading
ability and memory development in
children. Fun for beginners and
experienced players alike!

Decorate and Design
Grades 4-6
Come see why scrapbooking has become one of the hottest activities around.
Using a variety of materials from stickers to photos, you will make your own
scrapbook to keep. You also will design terrific greeting cards to be used for
every occasion.

Focus and Shoot
Grades 4-7
Here’s your chance to capture the world one photo at a time. Learn about
action and still shots, improvised images and how to take a really great
photo. Learn how use Photoshop and more. Digital cameras will be provided.

NEW! Food Frenzy
Grades 2-5 (West Bloomfield)
We want kids with good taste! Calling all children who want to make food,
taste food, smell food and play with food. Please join us in Shalom Street for
this deliciously yummy week of camp. We also will swim, be outdoors and
make wonderfully creative crafts.

Garden Art
Grades 2-6
Come create beautiful works of art that will add sparkle to any outdoor area.
We will make cement stepping stones, planter pots and other decor while
learning to appreciate an outdoor garden space. Your beautiful projects
will make your own garden a work of art!

 

NEW! Girls Empowered Fashion-Spa Week
Grades 5-9 (West Bloomfield)
Girls will learn about fashion, skin care, hair styling and how to appropriately
dress their age while still expressing themselves. Campers also will discover
how to stand up to the fashion bully, as well as deal with peer and societal
pressure to dress a certain way. Camp includes creating a fashion show, a
spa day, daily fitness activities, crafts and interactive discussions. At the end
of camp, girls will present a fashion show for family and friends.

NEW! “High School Musical” by Girls Empowered
Grades 1-3 and 4-6 (West Bloomfield)
Girls, please join us for this new “High School Musical”-inspired camp. Learn
to identify mean-girl behavior, understand what it feels like to be a target and
how to stand up for yourself and others. This camp includes games that teach
assertiveness, being true to yourself and confidence. Daily activities include
fitness, role plays, crafts, games and interactive discussions. At the end,
campers will perform a Girls Empowered version of “High School Musical,”
using songs and positive messages from the films, for friends and family.

 

Incredible Edible Art
Grades 2-3 and 4-6
In this yummy camp we’ll create delicious art! Projects include fruit baskets,
jewelry you can eat, picture frames and more. Creativity is a must – as is an
appetite for fun!

Kidz Art
Grades 1-3 and 3-5
Draw, sculpt or paint your way through one week of artistic delight as you
create projects based on popular artists’ styles. Art work will be displayed
in the Imagitivity Gallery.

 

Mix It Up
Grades 2-5
Do you love preparing meals for your friends and family? In this camp, you will
learn easy recipes that will make your family say, “yum!” We’ll help you understand
the fundamentals of cooking in this tasty camp. Kid-friendly kosher recipes and
a cookbook to take home are sure to stir up excitement for every future chef!

 

Mosaics
Grades 2-4 and 5-6
This camp is all it’s cracked up to be! Use ceramic tiles and other materials as
you design your own mosaic frames, mirrors and more in this one-week camp.

 

Movie Making
Grades 1-3 and 4-6 (West Bloomfield)
Lights! Camera! Action! Are you ready to be a movie star? Come spend one
week like a Hollywood filmmaker. This camp will show you how to write, produce
and star in your very own movie. Our action-packed week will end with a premier
party where family and friends can view your movie on the big screen. Each
camper will receive a DVD copy of his or her movie to take home. Please note:
This camp will be held at the David B. Hermelin ORT Resource Center.

NEW! Moving with Science
Grades 2-5
Come unravel mysteries as you study science from a totally new perspective!
Take apart owl pellets to see what an owl cannot digest. View the world through
a camera obscura that you make yourself. Join a team of camper engineers
and build bridges, domes, cubes and a simple machine you race. Make your
own sidewalk chalk, crystal gardens and chromatography-dyed T-shirt.

NEW Multi-Media Jewels
Grades 2-5
No more plastic beads on a string! This is not the average jewelry camp for
kids. In Multi-Media Jewels, campers will create dazzling, professional-looking
jewelry and work with mixed materials. You will use fiber to make felted beads,
copper to form your own elegant locket, and much more!

Museum Madness
Grades 3-6
Come explore the community’s museums as you collect a series of clues that
will lead you to a treasure at the end of the week. This four-day scavenger hunt
will be an adventure you don’t want to miss!

Pottery
Grades 1-3 and 4-6
From pots to sculptures, beginners and experts alike will create funky air-dry
clay creations. Learn how to shape and mold clay into whatever you can
imagine, using only your own hands and everyday items.

 

Radio Controlled Carz
Grades 4-6
Campers, start your engines! Design, construct and customize your own
radio-controlled cars. This week will be so much fun it will zoom by! You’ll
finish it off by hitting the track at Imagitivity Raceway.

NEW! Red-Hot Robotics
Grades 3-6
Join us for a week of fun with robots! Learn about the uses of robots and
spend time with our super cool, red-hot robots. You’ll also use your skills
to build your very own working robot to take home.

Restaurant Camp
Grades 3-5 and 6-8
Eating out is fun. So imagine a whole camp devoted to everything restaurant!
You will learn how to design a menu, restaurant safety, food preparation and
more. Take home pizzas, soft pretzels and cook your way through a very
satisfying and delicious week.

Rock Band Camp
Ages 4-6 and 7-9 (West Bloomfield)
The instructors from Axis Music Academy
will provide an unforgettable experience for
young rockers and rock stars. We will highlight
your musical talents, pick songs and jam
out – and you can make your very own CD.
The week will end with a performance for
parents, so get ready to rock!

Rocketry
Grades 3-7
Up, up and away! Come learn the fundamentals of building a rocket from
scratch and gain an understanding of principals of aerodynamic stability,
rocket propulsion and recovery. Then design your very own rocket!

NEW! Science Sleuths
Grades 2-5
Decode the world around you as a mad science sleuth. Send secret
messages to your friends. Get a taste for space with an astronaut snack.
Explore the universe with your own orbiter and use teamwork to unearth
pollution solutions. Figure out the trick of tightropes and sniff out scents
on our mad science trail.

Sweet Shop
Grades 1-3 and 2-5
Are you that rare kid who actually prefers cookies and cakes to spinach?
When your Mom offers you a yummy bowl of cauliflower for dessert, would
you rather have ice cream? Then come join us in the sweet shop! Here you
will learn how to decorate cakes and cookies and make candy treats, too.
We’ll even make healthy – and delicious – desserts.

Zoo Animals
Grades 1-3
You, the zoo and many animal creations, too! Come make zoo projects and
crafts such as puppets, sand art, picture frames, magnets and more. We will
dress up like our favorite animals and go on parade. Learn about animals,
then end your week with a trip to the Detroit Zoo.
