Make a
difference in the life of a child this summer - work as a counselor
at the Center Day Camps! Have a significant and positive influence
in the life of a child. You will live, play, and work in the great
outdoors as well as develop a network of friends and colleagues.
If you're in college or even in high school, you will gain practical
experience to further your education and develop hands-on, relevant
leadership skills. Staff also will participate in experiences that
will enhance personal growth.
When employed by the Center Day Camps you will be able to develop
or build your resume with varied skills like communication, problem
solving, critical thinking, teamwork, management and leadership.

Meet our Staff!
Forest Levy, Director of
Center Day Camps and Youth Services
Forest holds a bachelor’s of
science degree in education from the University of Texas.
She majored in youth and community studies and minored in business. She has
worked in camping for 10 years and has two years of experience in a
special-education classroom. Before coming to her current position, Forest was
director of youth and family programs at the Jewish Community Center in Austin,
Texas.
Forest sits on the board of the American Camping Association and continuously
brings experience and enthusiasm to our wonderful camp.
Meagan Williams, Youth Coordinator of Center Day Camps and Youth Services
Meagan graduated from Central
Michigan University with a bachelor’s of applied arts in commercial recreation
and a minor in hospitality. Before coming to the Jewish Center, she organized
and led day camps at Life Time Fitness. Her interests include traveling, big
cities and reading.
Jessica Sherman, Office Manager
Jessica graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Human Resources and a minor in Psychology. Jessica has worked with camp for the past two summers and is happy to be back! In her free time, Jessica loves to travel and spend time with her friends.
Lindsey Fox-Wagner, Teen Coordinator
Lindsey graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BFA in graphic design. She started working at the JCC during the 2008 JCC Maccabi games as the Assistant Games Director and is now the Coordinator of Center Day Camps and Teen Services.
Chen Alkalay, Registrar
Chen just came to us from Israel with an MBA in Business Management. She has served in the Israeli army and also has marketing and business experience. She now lives in Farmington Hills with her husband and likes sports and is looking forward to camp!
Ronda Brodsky, Swimming
Ronda was
the first aquatics instructor at the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit and taught more than 1,000 students to swim. She received her bachelor’s
degree from Michigan State University and her master’s in physical education and
health from Eastern Michigan University. Ronda is a certified group fitness
instructor, AED instructor, CPR and first-aid instructor, lifeguard and water
safety instructor and aquatic fitness instructor.
Josh
Cutler, Program Director
Josh graduated from Wayne
State University with a degree in secondary education. This year, he began
working toward his master’s degree in educational studies at Oakland University.
Josh has been a teacher and coach, and he has worked at camps for more than 15
years. Josh also teaches seventh and eighth-grade social studies at Hillel Day
School. He and his wife Lisa have two beautiful daughters, Emma and Alexa.
Michael Sandweiss, Pro Sports Director
Michael has worked for Center
Day Camps for three summers. During the school year, he is director of athletics
at the Frankel Jewish Academy. Michael and his wife have two children, Emma and
Madeline. When not at camp, Michael enjoys playing golf, cooking and spending
time with his family.
Carolyn Adler, Imagitivity Unit Head
Carolyn attended Michigan
State University, from which she received a degree in elementary education with
minors in French, Spanish and English. She also holds a master’s degree in
educational technology. During the school year, Carolyn teaches French, Spanish
and drama at Oakview Middle School in Lake Orion. She also directs her school's
musical production each year and is an adviser for the National Junior Honor
Society. In her free time, she likes to travel, attend concerts, read,
scrapbook, make DVDs of family photos, and play Wii.
Sarri Keller, Chaverim Unit Head
Sarri graduated from Eastern
Michigan University with a major in speech and language pathology; her next
project is beginning work on a master’s degree in education. This was Sarri’s
first summer at Center Day Camps and it was, she says, “a blast!” In her spare
time Sarri enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies and photography.
Maggie Lee, Keshet Unit Head
Maggie graduated from
Michigan State University with a degree in history and is now studying for her
master’s in education at Wayne State University. This was Maggie’s second summer
at Center Day Camps, and she says she was thrilled to be here. In her free time,
Maggie enjoys reading, traveling and cooking.
Nate Miller, B’Yachad Unit Head
Nate graduated from Western
Michigan University with a degree in special education and endorsements in
cognitive impairments and learning disabilities. He now works as a substitute
teacher. Nate enjoys playing sports, especially lacrosse.
Lauren Rambo, Teen Tour Unit Head
Lauren graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 and now teaches biology at Novi Hight School. This was Lauren's first year working at the Center Day Camps. In her spare time, Lauren loves to be outdoors and spend time with her family and friends.
