RBK HELPS GLEANERS FOOD BANK

Over 85 RBK players, parents and siblings spent their free time this past Saturday at Gleaners Food Bank in Pontiac. Gleaners is
the third-oldest food bank in the United States, providing millions of meals for
hungry people in southeastern Michigan.
For more than a quarter of a century the organization has nourished communities
by feeding hungry people.

The RBK task was to assemble “backpacks” for hungry children. The backpacks are
passed out to needy kids to provide them
with three healthy meals a day for the weekend when they don’t have school lunches to rely on. Our group pulled together as a team and efficiently packed 1000 backpacks!! This was a record number for any volunteer group at the Pontiac facility.

We all walked away from our time spent at Gleaners with a new appreciation for the food that we enjoy each day in our pantries and on our plates, as well as a sense of accomplishment for helping out at such a critical time for many Michigan families.
