The Active Life

The mission of The Active Life Department (TAL) is:

To enrich the lives of older adults in the Jewish community and the community-at-large by offering educational, cultural, social and recreational opportunities where people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and beliefs gather in peace and understanding.

The Active Life Department provides a wide range of exceptional programming for seniors to promote independence plus physical and emotional well-being for members and non-members of the community.

The Active Life encompasses five distinct programs:

The Active Adult Program (TAAP)

The Institute for Retired Professionals (IRP)

Council for Orthodox Jewish Active Retirees (COJAR)

Russian Jewish Life (RJL)

The Active Life Patron Fund supports the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit to provide the highest quality cultural, social, recreational and educational programs and services to an increasing number of older adult participants.
