Sarah & Irving Pitt Child Development Center

Center Day Camps

We're bursting with pride over our state-of-the-art Sarah and Irving Pitt Child Development Center. We provide full-service child care for infant, toddler and transition age groups as well as preschool and kindergarten programming. Flexible scheduling allows for half-day, extended care and full-day options. Programming includes instructional swim (not for infant, toddler or transition classes) gym and Kindermusik. Kids in all our classes will enjoy our new cooking, science and computer labs and age-appropriate gross motor areas.

The Pitt Child Development Center is proud to be an inclusive environment. To support the JCC's mission of inclusion, the Pitt Child Development Center seeks to accommodate pre-school age children with special needs. A set number of openings exist for these children whom would benefit by being accompanied 1:1 by an Inclusion Assistant so that they may participate in the Pitt Child Development Center pre-school program.

The JCC graciously acknowledges the Jewish Fund, the Skillman Foundation and the Edward and Judith Narens Endowment for Children with Special Needs for their support of our inclusive programming.

The Pitt Child Development Center is seeking professional, nurturing, responsible child-care providers to work as assistants in our infant and toddler classrooms.

Responsibilities include helping the lead teachers in carrying out lesson plans, providing care needs to children (i.e. feeding and diapering) and maintaining positive communication with parents.

Applicants must have a minimum of a Child Development associate degree. This is a part-time position. Hours may vary.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of our early childhood center is to provide a well-balanced, quality, developmental program that includes age appropriate educational and Judaic experiences and family involvement in a safe, warm, and loving environment.

PHILOSOPHY

For more than 45 years, children have been enrolled in early childhood programs at the Jewish Community Center. The Sarah & Irving Pitt Child Development Center’s philosophy is based on the belief that each child is unique and develops at his or her won rate. At the Center, your child will thrive in a Jewish environment that is rich in child-centered activities and filled with time for individual pursuits. We are dedicated to creating a total environment in which children are nurtured and challenged intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically. We seek to create an atmosphere of acceptance in which the uniqueness of each child is respected. We believe that children are empowered when they are involved in decision-making and are given choices. Children are respected and treated with dignity.

DEVELOPING JEWISH IDENTITY

Jewish values and ethics curriculum, customs, holidays, Bible stories, Hebrew enrichment, Israel awareness and weekly Shabbat celebrations enhance and highlight learning experiences in the Pitt Child Development Center. Our goal is to provide an environment in which children come to appreciate their Jewish heritage and traditions through participation in a wide range of Center special events, including the Barbara & Douglas Matzah Factory, annual Jewish Book Fair, family programs and many other community activities.
