We apologize for the inconvenience for the cancellation of Ambassador Houda Ezra Nonoo. Although the Ambassador is unable to join us that evening, IRP and SAJE has decided to offer a substitute program. We will be showing the film Persepolis, an award winning film at the Oscars in 2008, plus awards at Cannes, Toronto, Telluride, NY film festivals, and more. It is an animated film about a girl growing up in Iran during 1970s. The story shows her watching events through her young eyes. She sees the defeat of the Shah in the Iranian Revolution of 1979 and witnesses first hand how the new Iran, now ruled by Islamic fundamentalists, has become a repressive tyranny on its own. A very powerful story, one that we are sure will be enjoyed by everyone. The movie will be held the same time as was planned before, Monday, June 29th at 7:30 pm at the Kahn building in West Bloomfield.

Please contact Adina Pergament for refunds and questions.

SAJE provides year-round community-wide learning opportunities that connect people to Judaism.

The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit, together with the Federation's Alliance for Jewish Education and the Michigan Board of Rabbis, launched SAJE (Seminars for Adult Jewish Enrichment) in 1999 as a cutting-edge Jewish educational forum for adults in our community. Over the last few years, SAJE has undergone a transformation, offering year-round learning opportunities.

This year, SAJE is excited to feature prominent Jewish leaders, educators and lecturers from both our own Detroit community and around the world. Click here to see what's coming up!

For more information or to register for any of SAJE's upcoming programs please contact Adina Pergament, director of SAJE, at 248.432.5470 or apergament@jccdet.org.

SAJE is endowed by a generous gift from Cis Maisel Kellman.
SAJE is made possible, in part, thanks to the generous support of Sophie Pearlstein and Sydelle & Sheldon z'l Sonkin.
