We apologize for the inconvenience for the cancellation of Ambassador Houda Ezra Nonoo. Although the Ambassador is unable to join us that evening, IRP and SAJE has decided to offer a substitute program. We will be showing the film Persepolis, an award winning film at the Oscars in 2008, plus awards at Cannes, Toronto, Telluride, NY film festivals, and more. It is an animated film about a girl growing up in Iran during 1970s. The story shows her watching events through her young eyes. She sees the defeat of the Shah in the Iranian Revolution of 1979 and witnesses first hand how the new Iran, now ruled by Islamic fundamentalists, has become a repressive tyranny on its own. A very powerful story, one that we are sure will be enjoyed by everyone. The movie will be held the same time as was planned before, Monday, June 29th at 7:30 pm at the Kahn building in West Bloomfield. Please contact Adina Pergament for refunds and questions. SAJE provides year-round
community-wide learning opportunities that connect people to Judaism. SAJE is endowed by a generous gift from Cis Maisel Kellman. |
