JOB TITLE:  Assistant Director of Cultural ArtsDEPARTMENT:  Arts, Culture & Education REPORTS TO:  Senior Director of Cultural Arts
DESCRIPTION Cultural Arts Assistant Director will work with the Senior Director of Cultural Arts to produce the Jewish Community Center’s annual Jewish Book Fair, Jewish Film Festival, SAJE (Seminars for Adult Jewish Enrichment) programming, and other cultural arts activities.

This job is integral to the success of all of the department’s programming.  From beginning to end, big picture to smallest detail, this position is involved in all aspects of cultural arts programming.

The ideal candidate will have roughly 5 years of work experience. They can work independently or on a team and is committed to excellence in mission-driven programming and community-building.  They understand the yearly calendar of the Jewish community and can work within a program-based work environment whose demands vary with the program production schedule. This person should have excellent communication skills and experience working with lay leaders, donors, and volunteers. Excellent customer service skills are imperative.  This position requires a high level of proficiency with standard business software (Microsoft Office, etc.) as well as general comfort with learning new software and computer technology. Background in Jewish programming preferred.  Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Duties including, but not limited to:

Works in conjunction with Senior Director of Cultural Arts in all programming needs
Manage internal financial tracking
Assist in analysis of program data (attendance, financial, etc.)
Manage festival operations during Book Fair and Film Festival including:

Oversee hospitality for visiting speakers and volunteers
Oversee concessions sales
Oversee signage and merchandising
Oversee book sales
Oversee registration/check-in at relevant events
Oversee event setup
Manage receptions and giveaways by sponsors at events
Manage collection of attendance and visitor survey data
Partner with the marketing department to create needed materials
As assigned, manage communications with various stakeholders
Work with volunteers and lay leaders to produce programs and events
Assist in building relationships with partner organizations
Participate in and support fundraising activities
Oversee ordering for programs (books, film rights, etc.)

As assigned, act as department representative at after-hours events, which may include:
Selling merchandise
Set up
Interfacing with partner organizations
Promoting department programs
Some evenings and weekends required

Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn new software

Proficiency with WordPress
Proficiency with Publisher or other basic design programs

Knowledge of Jewish thought, history, and community structures
