JCC Receives Three National Awards for Program Excellence
We are excited to announce that our JCC has won three national awards for program excellence from the Jewish Community Center Association, our umbrella organization of JCC’s from around the world. The JCC of Metropolitan Detroit, in collaboration with Tamarack Camps, has won the JCC Association Zahav Excellence Award for our entry ‘JCC Day Camps powered by Tamarack’. The award recognizes the innovative new partnership we’ve forged with Tamarack Camps to create a world-class summer day camp program on our wilderness campus.
We also won the top award of Zahav for our entry ‘Re-imagining the JCC of Metropolitan Detroit’ - A Story of Tzimtzum: Voluntary Contraction to Empower Collaboration and Reinvention. Our entry describes our seven point Strategic Plan to reimagine the JCC as a critical institution to the metro Detroit Jewish (and beyond!) community.
The Zahav Award recognizes truly outstanding, visionary initiatives with maximum impact or potential for change.
In addition, our JCC has won a Kol Ha Kavod JCC Association Program Excellence Award ‘Franklin Jewish Community Project’. The Kol Ha Kavod Award recognizes exemplary initiatives that can be replicated by other JCCs. The Franklin Jewish Community Project, funded through a special grant from the William Davidson Foundation arose out of a desire to recreate the “old time” feeling of local neighborhood relationships and a sense of community.
Our entries will be recognized at the 2019 JCCs of North America Professional Conference Awards Luncheon on Monday February 25th.
Congratulations to all of our JCC staff for the wonderful work which you do – and thank you to the members and participants who make our programs shine. Our contributions and work are gaining not only a local reputation for excellence, but a national reputation as well. Kol HaKavod!
