The Krakow JCC’s Annual Ride for the Living is a 55 kilometer bike ride from Auschwitz to JCC Krakow that commemorates Jewish history and celebrates the miraculous rebirth of Jewish life in Poland today. This year, JFMD’s Israel & Overseas Department  and the JCC of Metropolitan Detroit are pedaling in solidarity and organizing a satellite ride right here in Metro Detroit.

We’ll be riding 55 kilometers (34 miles) from the Huntington Woods Recreation Center to the Detroit RiverFront and back.

Important Details:
Registration is at 8:00 am | Ride will start promptly at 8:30 am.
This is an unsupported ride. You must have your own bike and helmet. Bikers should be prepared for a 55k ride. If you are not an active rider, we strongly encourage you to train before the event as 55k is strenuous and will take 3-4 hours with breaks.

More About Ride for the Living:
Ride for The Living was inspired by JCC Krakow member Robert Desmond who rode his bicycle 1,350 miles from London to Auschwitz visiting WWII sites of liberation along his journey. After joining the JCC and becoming an active member, he realized his ride should not have ended in a place of loss, but rather at a place of hope, JCC Krakow, joined by the Jewish community and friends from around the world.

Cost: $42 donation per rider online or $50 at the door (will support the JCC Krakow and includes a t-shirt, snacks, water and complimentary spin classes at the JCC until the ride).
Where: Meet at the Huntington Woods Recreation Center. We will ride to Detroit RiverFront and back.

Huntington Woods Recreation Center, 26325 Scotia Rd, Huntington Woods, MI 48070

Chairs:
